BESAKIH TEMPLE

Besakih Temple is a temple complex in the village of  besakih, Rendang Subdistrict,  and Karangasem  Regency actually  on the slove of mount Agung in eastern Bali. As we now this temple is a largest and holiest temple of hindu  in bali.


The precise origins of the temple are unclear  but its importance as a holy site almost certainly dates from prehistoric time  and the Mount Agung  has eruption in 1963 which kill approximately 1700 people


 The name of Besakih coming from the word "Basuki" , its mean "safe " and this temple consist by  18 complex temple,   and 16 complex pedarmaan , four of the temple name is Catur Loka Pala  located  in north side is  Pura batuu madeg , est side ia a Pura Gelap and west  side Kiduling Kreteg and west side is a Pura Ulun Kulkul.
The entrance is a mark by Candi Bentar or ( split gateway) after that you will see Kori Agung its mean you are in second courtyard and than you will see Meru and Padmasana in side  the main sanctuary .

Pura gelap which located at  an altitude , name of pure gelap derived from kawi language which means lighting . pura gelap as  the medium of worship of god in its manifestation as a God Iswara,  Betara or God Iswara  protector east direction of the universe or in Bali we call Bhuwana Agung, from this temple you can see gorgeous  view  and besakih temple as well.
